Assistant Research Professional, The Earth League
Arizona State University: Office of the Executive Vice President Knowledge Enterprise: Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory
Location
Tempe, AZ
Open Date
Mar 28, 2022
Description
The Earth League (EL) invites applications for an Assistant Research Professional to join the Global Futures Laboratory.
As the Assistant Research Professional, you will work under the supervision of Peter Schlosser on a project under development that will explore which 10 actions will be the most effective at defining the 10 levers of change that can rapidly move the world onto a trajectory towards a just and sustainable future during this decisive decade. This project is preliminarily referred to as the “10 Must Haves,” and shall yield, among other products, a scientifically robust journal article and a complementary interactive website for a broad audience.
The first task will be to develop and distribute a mixed methods questionnaire to elicit, as widely as possible, input on the most important transformations that must be accomplished (‘What must we have?’) and the types of actions needed (“What must we do?”). The idea of the “10 Must Haves'' initiative is to take bold steps and propose ideas well beyond the current frameworks.
You will work closely with the Earth League Secretariat, and engage with Fellows as the project demands. Your duties will include:
- compile and sort inputs, perform research to develop and present the proposed levers
- communicate with EL fellows and conduct an iterative process of refining the inputs to an agreed-upon 10 transformative actions
- assist in the preparation of a journal article that lays out the 10 actions and accompanying justifications and methods. The work must then be “translated” for a nonacademic audience, and the position will help manage the design and development of an online version of the “10 Must Haves”.
This position with The Earth League is sponsored by the Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University, which is a founding member of the Earth League.
