About the Role:
Gro has an opening for an Economist that will contribute to the development of a framework that integrates economic, financial, and climate-related data and statistics to better understand the interaction of climate and economy.
Conduct research connecting historical climate data (Gro Indices) to economic outcomes at the household, company, industry, and national levels
Analyze ecological and economic trends and cycles
Estimate economic outcomes for various hypothetical climate change scenarios
Conduct literature reviews and discover new data for ingestion and new methodologies for analysis
Design tools and frameworks for customers to utilize our data in their economic and financial analysis
Working closely with product and engineering teams in the design and implementation of new features as well as solving technical obstacles related to data sources
Collaborating with the business development team on client specific projects
Writing analytical insights on topics related to the economics of climate
Occasional (Post Pandemic) travel for client visits, conferences, meetings
Keeping abreast news and research in the climate/environmental economics space
Working on special projects and initiatives
Gro is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated economist with proven ability to work independently as well as being effective in teams. The successful candidate would have:
An advanced degree (Masters’ or PhD) in economics, econometrics, statistics, or a related quantitative field
3+ years of relevant work experience
Strong programming and data analysis skills
Exceptional written, oral, and presentation abilities
Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
Ability to perform and synthesize quantitative and qualitative analyses
Comfort with working with large volumes of data
Great to Have but Not Required:
Experience / interest in “Big Data” and associated tooling
Experience / interest in climate data or climate science
