Primary Purpose


Emergency Response Team Officers (ERTOs) are responsible for providing both highly visible and covert professional armed security to complement existing security programs. ERTOs act as a visual deterrent, intervene and respond to all levels of security and potential emergency needs including acts or threats of violence, emergencies, and life safety threats, and mitigate incidents through early detection and/or disruption of criminal conduct or other undesirable activity. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices and procedures. This position requires specialized training and physical conditioning.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities


  • Maintain a high-visibility uniformed or covert presence
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations including in-progress acts of violence, crisis, weapons incidents, explosive incidents, natural disasters, and a wide range of issues posing a hazard to lives and/or property using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response by following established protocol
  • Conduct covert surveillance operations
  • Supplement the Executive Protection Program as directed by Management
  • Assist in emergency situations by securing the scene to prevent further loss or damage, advise personnel of threats and potential threats, summon emergency responders to the incident, and initiate and conduct evacuation procedures
  • Render appropriate first aid to injured persons and following established protocol for reporting injuries
  • Safeguard and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons
  • Ability to respond to direction and/or orders from supervisory personnel, especially in the context of an active shooter, assault or other similar situation
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested

There are many physical aspects of the above essential functions, including the ability to move from location to location at appropriate speeds, the ability to carry or move another individual, including one who may be injured, the ability to physically engage with a person who is threatening others and the ability to accurately handle and shoot a weapon. Candidates are required to successfully complete the Emergency Response Team Officer Training Course, maintain an appropriate level of physical fitness, tactical, and firearms proficiency, and attend and pass all recurring mandatory legal, tactical, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR, firearms and other training as a condition of continued employment.


Minimum Requirements


  • A minimum of four (4) years of related creditable experience: as a law enforcement officer or; through service as a military police officer or; on a military special operations team as an operator specializing in counter-terrorism or dignitary protection or; in other work such as a Special/Security Police Officer (SPO) that provided the required knowledge and skills of law enforcement operations, practices, techniques, and judicious use of force, to include firearms
  • Experience making judgments based on the application of experience, training, directions, rules, regulations, and laws and involved in maintaining order and protecting life and property
  • Graduation from an accredited law enforcement academy, U.S. Military Police Academy, or comparable course of instruction within the United States
  • Documented experience in Use of Force decision making in an armed, public facing capacity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • HR218 qualification or ability to obtain CCW certification
  • After receiving a conditional offer of employment, a candidate will be required to satisfactorily pass a physical agility test, psychological evaluation, background check and drug screen. These evaluations or assessments are job-related to the position and its essential functions.

Preferred


  • Advanced training/instructor certification in firearms, force protection, anti-terrorism, defensive tactics, active shooter, and/or behavioral detection techniques
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations


  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED Certification
  • Ability to obtain Gaming Registration
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License
  • DMV print out

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Able to satisfactorily pass a physical agility test, psychological evaluation, background check and drug screen; these evaluations or assessments are job-related to the position and its essential functions
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms
  • Effective communication and analytical skills including the ability to evaluate, compile, coordinate, and disseminate information, make sound judgments, and respond accurately and quickly to changing situations.
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
  • Ability to learn, demonstrate proficiency and effectively use team tactics, defensive tactics, and safe handling, proficiency, and judicious use of firearms and less-than-lethal force alternatives.
  • Ability to execute evacuation procedures to aid guests and employees during an emergency.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment.
  • Ability to render appropriate first aid to injured persons.
  • Ability to learn, demonstrate proficiency and effectively use various computer software.
