SALARY RANGE: $70,338.00 - $112,807.00 Annually


BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.


PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.


Position Overview


The Mayor’s Office of Children & Family Success (MOCFS) is a dynamic team serving the citizens of Baltimore through all life stages to empower all individuals to thrive. We are looking for a talented strategist and community builder to join our team as the Youth Engagement Manager (YEM). In partnership with the Community Engagement Manager, the YEM will develop, implement, and evaluate the strategic direction of the MOCFS youth engagement portfolio.


Essential Functions


  • Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership to develop an MOCFS vision and strategy for youth engagement.
  • Co-advise the Youth Commission, including planning for professional/ leadership development activities, support the execution of youth-led projects, oversee time and payment of youth interns, and plan and participate in fundraising campaigns.
  • Oversee the development of the Youth Master Plan.
  • Program Development and Execution
  • Working collaboratively with the Community Engagement Manager, reimagine MOCFS youth programming to meet the needs of young people and fulfill the mayor’s priorities for youth empowerment, safety, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with youth, community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure programs meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
  • In collaboration with the Chief of Policy and Partnership, cultivate and maintain partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and the business community to create opportunities for youth engagement.
  • Lead efforts to engage underserved communities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in all programming.
  • Budget and Resource Management

Education And Experience Requirements


EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, leadership, or other related fields.


AND


EXPERIENCE: Have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field of community development or youth engagement.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Proven experience in leadership and program development and management.
  • Demonstrated success in engagement and outreach
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and budgets simultaneously.
