The Assistant Manager provides customers with outstanding, friendly service in a timely manner and is primarily responsible for running the shift. Is responsible for handling all issues related to the shift being covered. Should be able to cover all work positions, filling in wherever needed. Performs duties of the General or Store Manager in his/her absence. Reports to the General Manager or Store Manager.

WORK SCHEDULE: 5-6 days per week and at least 9 hours per day, depending on the needs of the business

Job Overview:

Adhere to company policies and specifications
Maintain inventory sheets, vendor and staff phone numbers, order forms and manuals
Locally market the store to potential customers
Know all functions of the store and be able to step in and perform any of the job duties
Keep the store's cleanliness and sanitation at or above standards set by the company and the local health department
Ensure compliance with all state and federal health regulations
Maintain safety and security of employees, customers and store
Assist Manager in supervision of employees in every phase of product preparation and customer service, including portioning, wrapping and cleaning
Direct employees and delegate priorities among staff
Verify that employees are following company standards for appearance
Manage staff to cover absences
Provide employee training according to company guidelines and cross-train employees so they are able to perform multiple functions
Motivate employees to achieve maximum effectiveness
Assist employees by getting involved in daily operations, making product, cleaning and taking orders
Create and maintain a positive work environment
Increase employee retention
Increase sales over previous year
Keep labor costs and food costs in line with budget
Assist Manager in handling of all monies and bank deposits in a safe and responsible manner
Resolve credit card chargebacks
Assume responsibility for all cash, coupons and promotions
Customer Satisfaction
Maintain superior food quality
Exceed customer expectations
Ensure customers minimum transaction times
Maintain efficient service times
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of store (specifically assigned work area)
Maintain product knowledge
Communicate with other team members about product quality, product shortages and customer comments
Email menus, receipts and order forms to customers
Properly portion products, beverages and paper supplies
Restock front line
Stock self-service area and take-out menus
Restock items as needed
Accurately assemble orders
Package orders for dine-in or take-out
Accurately ring up orders and make change
Sell desserts and beverages for eat-in and outgoing service
Make sure all drive-thru orders are expedited properly, from the moment an order is received to delivery status
Perform opening and closing duties based on schedule
Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

Minimum 1-year retail or food service supervision experience
Basic personal computer (PC) and online Internet usage knowledge
Experience in handling applicable government agencies
Will need to get certified by National Restaurant Association (NRA) or local health department in food handling
Successful completion of the company Basics of Operations training program
Able to read company materials
Able to write
Able to bend, stoop and reach to receive inventory, stock, serve customers and clean store
Able to carry up to 50 lbs.
Stand and walk on a hard surface for 10 to 12 hours per day
Quickly identify safety placards and hazardous situations to avoid or minimize injuries
Identify food quality through taste, texture, color and odor
Use small tools that require good manual dexterity
Tolerate up to 45 minutes in walk-in cooler at temperatures as low as 32 degrees F during inventory
Tolerate up to 35 minutes in walk-in freezer at -10 degrees F for inventory and stocking
Work in a hands-on, non-smoking store setting which will have food, knives, slippery floors and extreme cold temperatures
