Assistant Research Professional, The Earth League

 

Description

The Earth League (EL) invites applications for an Assistant Research Professional to join the Global Futures Laboratory.

As Assistant Research Professional, you will work under the supervision of the Vice President and Vice Provost of Global Futures and co-chair of the Earth League on a variety of projects. You will be responsible for executing the mission and vision of the Earth League by communicating sophisticated scientific information produced by The Earth League to the public at large. Under administrative direction and with the support of the Earth League Secretariat, you will organize and direct key aspects of assigned functions to achieve organization objectives.


Current projects are focused on climate science, sustainability, and global change pathways.


Essential Duties

  • Support administration and communication of the Earth League Secretariat
  • Support the preparation and organization of content for Earth League meetings
  • Coordinate the network of lead institutions and Fellows
  • Participate in and facilitates the dissemination of Earth League meeting results and/or products
  • Help prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Maintain the content of the Earth League website with technical assistance
  • Prepare materials for Earth League fundraising, as relevant to emerging projects
  • Develops and implements research and communication operations
  • Coordinates collaboratively with ASU leadership and campus functional leaders to advance the work of the Earth League

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of research-related experience.
  • Finalists will be expected to provide writing samples
  • Experience in problem solving and decision-making
  • Experience in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management and working within diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Evidence of effective written and verbal skills
  • Evidence of command of the English language both verbally and in writing

 

Desired Qualifications:

As our ideal candidate, you possess in one or more of the following: 

·        Experience with mixed research methods, statistical analysis or modeling

·        Experience publishing academic research

  • Evidence of a graduate degree, especially in sustainability / sustainable development or related field
  • Experience in scientific writing, science communication
  • Experience in coordination of collaborative consortia
  • Experience in relevant research administration, communication and delivery of support services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sponsored research
