*The VP of Product Management & Procurement*

Position overview:

The VP of Product Management & Procurement will formulate and ensure execution of the long-term, strategic plan including measurable milestones for maximizing the revenue and profit generated from the Phelps United Sourcing product catalog of legacy, spare parts, and refurbished IT hardware and our extensive compatibles product lines including optical transceivers, memory, cables, work from home, and other technology products.

This Phelps executive role is responsible for actively developing, maintaining, and leading a world-class product management & procurement organization.

The VP, Product Management & Procurement will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing procurement operations, procurement services support (systems, processes, procedures, contracts, analytics, compliance), supplier quantity reductions, quality improvements and strategic relationship development. Additionally, this role will be responsible for efficiently managing both the physical inventory at Phelps United DCs and broadline technology distributors as well as growing the virtual feeds to distribution.

This high-profile VP role will also participate on the Phelps United leadership team and work within it to develop, articulate, and implement the long-term vision for the company. You will contribute to our annual strategic priorities, individual strategic business decisions, and other projects of top importance to the company as well as roadmap the future of product sourcing for our various business units. Working directly with the Executive Team, you will work with a unique set of successful leaders who are at the top of their field. The VP of Product Management & Procurement will help make Phelps United create the strongest technology & services platform helping brands sell their products efficiently and profitably through broadline technology distributors and ecommerce marketplaces.

*Responsibilities: *

* Work with leading IT manufacturers on developing a high-level strategy for efficiently identifying, purchasing, & integrating their EOL & refurbished products into the Phelps Sourcing catalog.[GU4]
* Establish strategic pricing practices within the org to maximize sell-through and profitability of these constrained products.
* Communicate the Phelps United Sourcing value proposition to both IT hardware manufacturers and distribution Product Management teams.
* Help qualify and bid on strategic programs with manufacturers to become exclusive national supplier for EOL & refurbished products.
* Define and implement strategies, policies, processes, and tools to optimize cost savings and procurement efficiencies. Examples include ongoing cost analysis, annual deflation targets, continuous improvement projects, contract re-bidding/re-negotiation practices, and regular pulsing of competitiveness/effectiveness of programs against relevant benchmarks.
* Ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of parts; and establishing a competitive process to ensure lower part and commodity costs and higher quality across the full supplier base.
* Drive foundational best practices, such as RFP utilization, multiple vendor bidding, know-your-vendor reviews, vendor master file management, PO’s, order tool automation, spend transparency, documented policies/procedures, and supplier KPI’s/monitoring.
* Coordinate tightly with demand planning to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of parts.
* Develops and maintain strong vendor relationships
* Develop budgets, forecasts, and metrics.
* Effectively engaging with sales leaders & marketing to support our strategy, align priorities, drive business results, and understand how product management and procurement can most effectively deliver value across the full supply chain.
* Collect and disseminate of Market Intelligence and translation into effective implementation
* Align the team through clear performance targets and regular check-ins focusing on culture, mindset, negotiation process, stakeholder alignment, supplier development and conflict resolution.
* Oversee health and management of key supplier relationships. Establish contract quality and performance metrics and use data to actively track and hold vendors accountable to defined standards.
* Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action.

*Skills & Qualifications: *
* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
* Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a strategic sourcing role at the senior management level.
* Ability to see the “big picture” and use quantitative and qualitative data to create strategies that move Phelps United forward.
* Solid analytical skills to understand market dynamics and business requirements.
* Strong business acumen – financial, strategic, and operational skills.
* Exceptional leadership skills – ability to coach, mentor and inspire teams to perform.
* Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change.
* Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey ideas and processes.
* Ability to build effective relationships, both internally and externally.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and prior experience utilizing Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
