Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. The serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada.
This position will begin based out of British Comlumbia and would typically involve travel and relocation throughout your career.
Perform regulatory research to determine compliance requirements with all permits and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices
Conduct self-inspections, testing and/or auditing to closely monitor Contractor performance during construction.
Review and understand the Project Environmental Reference Documents (ERDs).
Develop and implement the Contractor Environmental Execution Plan (CEEP) and Contractor Reclamation Execution Plan (CREP) to meet Project Environmental Requirements.
Ensure environmental mitigation is correctly implemented in a timely fashion during construction. Ensure appropriate mitigation response options are applied in a timely manner where environmental events or deficiencies are encountered, to protect the environment and prevent unnecessary construction delays.
Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy
Training staff at all levels in environmental issues and responsibilities
Complete weekly and monthly environmental reporting and ensure that the Project is provided with a look-ahead schedule to allow for resource planning.
Carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization’s environmental risks and financial costs.
Respond to project requests and needs for assistance with environmental compliance.
Negotiate environmental service agreements and managing associated costs
Develop and deliver Contractor General Environmental Onboarding program. Ensure that all Contractor personnel receive that the appropriate level of Environmental training.
B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences (or equivalent) OR Diploma related to Environmental Science (or equivalent). A professional designation would be an asset
10-15 years of experience, or equivalent, in the petroleum and/or environmental industry.
Experience working on large pipeline construction projects, working collaboratively in a project team to maintain a coordinated approach to managing environmental issues.
Experience in building and managing technical teams.
Experience in technical writing and review.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organization/time management skills.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Uncompromising attitude toward safety
Willingness and ability to relocate, long term, to job sites
