We are looking for an Alliance Environmental & Sustainability Manager to support us in our delivery of the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) and Car Parks for Commuters Program, as part of the Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA).
Reporting to the Alliance General Manager and acting as a member of the Alliance Management Team (AMT), this key leadership role will see you providing support, guidance and direction to a team of environmental and sustainability professionals to ensure consistent and efficient delivery of sustainability requirements and environmental compliance obligations.
Lead, mentor, train and manage environment and sustainability staff across the Alliance.
Lead the Alliance in regards to environmental aspects, risks and requirements under legislation, including development of program plans and procedures to meet environmental obligations.
Communicate and implement systems and tools to improve both environmental compliance and sustainability performance.
Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with LXRP and their representatives, establishing lines of open communication for feedback.
Ensure the Alliance has positive representation and contribution at the LXRP Environment and Sustainability Joint Coordination Committee and any other committee as directed by the Alliance or Fulton Hogan.
Communicate and lead compliance and sustainability initiatives to achieve net positive benefits for the environment and community.
Commission and manage technical experts to assist with both environment compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Report environment incidents, non-conformances and near misses and coordinate (or participate) in incident investigations when required.
Facilitate the continuous improvement of environmental and sustainability performance and escalate ideas for organisational improvements.
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience working as an Environmental and/or Sustainability Manager in the civil construction industry.
Strong communication, coaching, leadership, problem solving and planning skills.
Effective stakeholder management skills, coupled with the ability to build strong relationships and gain credibility quickly.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a wide range activities, including but not limited to: environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks; conducting and facilitating risk assessments, inspections and audits; environmental and sustainability reporting (e.g. NGERs and ISCA); and incident investigation.
