Morrison Hershfield's Environmental Group works to avoid, minimize or where unavoidable, mitigate adverse project environmental effects to help ensure a sustainable world for present and future generations. We specialize in environmental planning and management, environmental assessment, the natural sciences, regulatory approvals, impact studies, monitoring, solid waste management, transit planning, renewable energy, hydrogeology and environmental site assessment.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for key components of environmental assessments and environmental management plans on a variety of multi-disciplinary planning and design project teams.
Tasks Are Expected To Include
Lead/document stakeholder consultation programs
Conduct alternatives evaluation, environmental impact assessment and reporting for environmental assessment studies (municipal, provincial and/or federal)
Synthesis of supporting study reports for environmental assessment studies (e.g. heritage, archaeological, contamination, etc.)
Conduct project environmental sustainability reviews and documentation
Prepare proposals, project work planning and project management
Some travel, especially within Eastern Canada, may be required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies/Planning/Engineering or related field of study (Master's degree would be an asset)
Minimum 4 years of directly related planning experience, working with projects under various jurisdictions (municipal, regional, provincial and federal)
Demonstrate ability as an Environmental Planner on Provincial and Municipal transportation infrastructure projects - especially for MTO, City of Ottawa and other municipalities. (Experience in other sectors such as mining or energy would be an asset)
Excellent working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental assessment legislation, Class Environmental Assessment processes, the Ontario Transit Project Assessment Process and other related environmental legislation
Demonstrate knowledge of environmental approvals and permitting processes with various agencies and the ability to secure project related approvals and permits
Demonstrate ability to develop and implement multi-dimensional and multi-media consultation programs dealing with a broad range of stakeholders
Proven ability to prepare comprehensive reports and plans
Knowledge of sustainability and climate change mitigation / adaptation an asset
Bilingual in English and French is a definite asset
